Picante (ML)

Around the table, every player is hiding one small secret: their cursed suit, the one color they hope never to pick up. At the start of each round, you secretly choose the pepper color you want to avoid at all costs, then fifteen tricks unfold in a row, with no obligation to follow the led suit. Every card from a color other than your cursed one earns you a point, but watch out for cards matching your own cursed suit: they chip away at your score, value for value. When the round ends, the best score claims two chili peppers, the runner-up gets one, and everyone else walks away empty-handed. The first player to collect three chili peppers wins the game, in a mood that gets spicier with every single trick. Picante is the brand-new bilingual French-English edition of a beloved trick-taking game, refreshed with all-new artwork, without ever losing what made it a favorite: quick tactical decisions, a dash of bluffing, and games that never quite play out the same way twice.

Picante is for you if you enjoy card games that move fast, reward a cool head, and slide easily into a family game night or a night out with friends. The rules click in just a few minutes, but choosing your cursed suit each round keeps everyone on edge right up to the very last trick.

Before it became Picante, this trick-taking game already existed under the name Sticheln back in 1993, and more than thirty years later it still holds a solid spot among the best-rated trick-taking games on BoardGameGeek, with over 4,000 player ratings.

The design comes from Klaus Palesch, a well-regarded name in trick-taking game circles, while this edition's brand-new artwork is signed by Sylvain Leroy, who gives Picante's chili peppers all their colorful personality.
