Nanatoridori (pré-joué) (ML)

The games in the L'As des jeux Bazar are pre-played games. They have been inspected by one of our game experts and are certified "Complete." You may find some minor imperfections, such as light wear on the box or on certain game components.

In Nanatoridori, you become the guide of a castle where a lively bird party has just wrapped up: it is up to you to help the feathered guests find their way back home. Each card represents a colorful bird with a value from 1 to 7, and once your hand is dealt it can never be rearranged: you have to work with whatever order luck gave you. On your turn, you play a card or a group of neighboring cards in your hand sharing the same value, trying to beat the last combination played with a higher value or a bigger group. Every time you beat a play, you can pick up the cards you won and slide them anywhere you like into your hand, or simply discard them. Once everyone else has passed, the table clears and that last player starts a new round. Whoever is still stuck holding cards at the end of a round loses one of their two lives, represented by adorable penguin tokens. Lose both lives, and the game ends: every other player wins together. This card game blends tight hand management with fun little twists, in a fast-paced format that wraps up in about 20 minutes.

Nanatoridori is for you if you are looking for a card game that slips easily into a bag and plays out in about 20 minutes. It works just as well for family game nights as for groups of friends with up to 6 players, and the rule against rearranging your hand adds a real puzzle to every turn. If you enjoy shedding games where every card played pushes your opponents closer to (or further from) losing, you will get hooked fast.

On BoardGameGeek, Nanatoridori ranks among the top 1300 family games, an impressive spot for such an easy card game to learn (a weight of just 1.18 out of 5). Its "single loser" mechanic is fairly unusual for this type of game: instead of one individual winner, the whole table wins together as soon as one player has lost both their lives. The game is even available digitally on Board Game Arena, handy for practicing between in-person sessions.

The game was designed by Toshiki Arao, with colorful bird illustrations by Kotori Neiko giving every card its charm.
